General recommendations
The highest effectiveness of the drug is achieved when applied at the early stages of weed development and at optimal soil moisture and temperature. The optimal ambient temperature for the use of the drug is in the range from +15 to +25 ˚C. It is best to carry out spraying when there are 2–3 leaves before the budding phase in annual weeds and 4–6 leaves in perennial weeds (with a plant height of 10–15 cm). Under such conditions, the minimum recommended consumption rates of the drug are used. In the case of herbicide application at later stages of weed development, it is necessary to increase the consumption rate. To destroy dead bodies of cultivated cereals, you should use the dosage of the drug, which is recommended for the destruction of perennial types of weeds. The most sensitive stages to graminicides in winterwheat – 1-2 leaves, in barley – before the beginning of tillering. Herbicide treatments should be avoided during heat, drought, frost, strong wind, other adverse weather conditions and one hour before rain. It is not recommended to treat with herbicide sugar beets that are in a state of stress (frost, wind, damage by insects, nutritional deficiency, action of other herbicides). The drug has a herbicidal effect on sensitive types of weeds growing in sugar beet crops at the time of spraying and does not affect weeds that have appeared after treatment. The drug solution should be used within a few hours after preparation. The drug Astarg can be used in mixtures with other plant protection agents (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides), except strongly alkaline ones. Before using in tank mixtures with complex microfertilizers, a compatibility test must be done!
Mechanism of action
The active ingredient xizalofop-p-ethyl is systemic and belongs to the chemical class of aryloxyphenoxypropionates. After processing, it is quickly absorbed by the leaves and other above-ground organs of weeds and is transferred to the growth points, roots and rhizomes. In the plant, it blocks the production of phospholipids, which are used to build cell membranes necessary for plant growth.
Properties
The drug has systemic activity. Within 1 hour after the application of Astargu, cereal weeds stop growing. Visible symptoms of the herbicidal effect (redness of the leaves, darkening of the stem) appear on the 7-8th day. When applying, it should be taken into account that the complete death of weeds occurs no earlier than after 10-14 days for annual cereals and 14-21 days for perennials. But during this time they do not grow and do not suppress the culture. If after applying the drug, dry hot weather has arrived, do not worry, the herbicide action slows down, weeds no longer grow and do not suppress the culture, and when favorable weather conditions begin to die.

Annual grass weeds: common plantain, blood-red glove, foxtail, common rush, canary, fenugreek, cornflower, chicken millet, annual thinleg, mouse (species), self-sowing barley, millet, rye, common sedge.
