Mechanism of action. Arthrobotris oligospora is capable of forming hunting devices for killing and using nematodes and other protozoa as food. Hunting devices (septate hyphae 5-8 μm thick) develop on the mycelium of the fungus. Adhesive nets consist of a large number of rings. After touching the sticky net, the nematode sticks and becomes more and more engrossed in the net. Soon after this, a hypha develops from the network, dissolving the cuticle and penetrating the nematode's body. The process of absorptionby the fungus of the contents of the nematode's body lasts a little more than a day. Predatory fungi can develop for a long time as saprophytes in the soil or on plant residues. In addition, products of the metabolism of Arthrobotris oligospora include linoleic acid and other metabolites that have a toxic effect on nematodes.
Application and processing conditions.
• The preparation is applied to the soil to a depth of 15-20 cm: before sowing, before planting plants in each hole, or in furrows - under vegetative plants, applied in holes during planting, in the foci of damage after vegetation.
• Rates of drug application, depending on the initial number of nematodes in the soil, vary from 25-140 ml per 1m2greenhouse area.
