Alistair Grand is a four-component herbicide for the control of annual, by some perennial dicotyledonous and annual cereal weeds in crops of winter wheat, rye andtriticale. This herbicide is able to protect crops of cultivated plants throughout the growing season.

Mechanism of action:

Alistair Grand is a combined herbicide of three active substances belonging to two chemical classes, each of which has its own special mechanism of action.

Diflufenican, in addition to penetrating weedy plants, forms a "screen" on the soil surface. During the germination of the second wave of weeds, diflufenican, penetrating through the roots, stem and coleoptile, causes intense discoloration of the seedlings and subsequent death of the weeds. It is an inhibitor of carotenoid synthesis. It has a systemic and contact effect, is mainly adsorbed by seedlings and has a limited ability to move through the plant.(//tractor-service.com)

Mesosulfuron-methyl and iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium act on the physiological processes of sensitive weeds, as well as other sulfonylurea herbicides. The mechanism of action is caused by a violation of the activity of the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS), which leads to the cessation of cell division and plant growth.

Mefenpyr-diethyl is an antidote that contributes to the rapid breakdown of mesosulfuron-methyl and iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium in cultivated plants treated with the drug. This ensures high selectivity and excludes phytotoxicity. As a rule, mefenpyr-diethyl is not active in the tissues of weedy plants.

Visible symptoms of the drug's action appear within the first 5-7 days after spraying. They are expressed in growth arrest and yellowing of the leaves of weedy plants, which turn into chlorotic and necrotic lesions after 10-14 days. Complete death of sensitive weeds is observed after 2-4 weeks.
