Sereda Volodymyr Ivanovych is a Ukrainian scientist-breeder, known for his achievements in the field of agricultural sciences, in particular in the selection of grain crops, he is the co-author and author of various varieties of winter wheat, spring wheat, and barley. His work is aimed at: increasing the yield and resistance of crops to diseases; adaptation of varieties to the climatic conditions of Ukraine; improvement of grain quality characteristics (for example, protein and gluten content).

The varieties have been awarded state awards and are included in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Sereda is also known as a breeder of early and drought-resistant sunflower varieties. In particular:
The Volodymyr variety was created — ultra-early (90–95 days of vegetation), high vitality, resistance to 5–6 races of wolfberry, adapted to the steppe conditions of Ukraine with a potential yield of up to 45 centners/ha, oil content of about 48–52%.
Research was also carried out on the variety "Synelnykovskiy ultra-early" - the germination-flowering period is only 45 days, which makes it possible to sow in early spring and avoid the July heat.
Volodymyr Sereda is the head of the "Synelnyk Institute of Seed Production, Agroinnovations and Selection" of the NRC, where dual-culture crops (for example, winter barley + ultra-early sunflower) are tested for the maximum exploitation of the season and reduction of the chemical load on the soil.
