Description
The variety has a high genetic potential for productivity. Against a background of high mineral nutrition, record harvests are obtained. In terms of productivity, it is the leader among domestic varieties. Deserves a significant expansion of cultivated areas in all zones of Ukraine.
ORIGINATOR: Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Myroniv Wheat Institute named after V. M. Crafts of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
ENTERED INTO THE REGISTER OF PLANT VARIETIES OF UKRAINE for 2011 for growing in the steppe, forest-steppe and steppe zones of Ukraine.
BIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS: short-stemmed, high-intensity variety. Mid-early, growing season 278-281 days. Highly resistant to lodging, powdery mildew and brown leaf rust, runoff, germination and grain shedding. Has increased winter hardiness and drought resistance. The variety is erythrospermum.
GRAIN QUALITY: flour milling and baking properties are good and excellent.
Grain Slavna variety contains 13.0-14.4% protein, 28.9-35.8% raw gluten, flour strength 328-343 a. o., the volume of bread from 100 g of flour is 1000-1100 ml, the overall assessment of baking qualities is 7.9-8.2 points. Classified as strong wheat.

OWNERSHIP CHARACTERS: the variety was created for good owners. The variety is high-yielding. Against a high background of mineral nutrition, it provides record harvests. According to the originator (IFRG of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) during the years of competitive testing (2007-2009), the average yield of the Slavna variety is 102.4 t/ha, which is 14.9 t/ha higher than the standard yield.
In Experimental Agricultural Production (Kyiv Region) from 2007-2009, yields of 100.0-114.4 t/ha were obtained in 29 variety experiments. The grain yield of the Slavna variety in the State Variety Study (2008-2009) in 46 variety trials was 51.7-107.0 t/ha. The average guaranteed yield increase of the variety above the national standards for two years of the State variety testing in the Steppe, Forest-Steppe and Polissia zones is 13.1, respectively; 17.3; 16.1 c/ha. Significant yield increases of the Slavna variety to the national standard — 5.1-37.0 t/ha were obtained in 31 variety tests, including increases of 12.6-37.0 t/ha — in 27 varietal trials in 19 regions of Ukraine, covering the steppe, forest-steppe and Polissia zones (Zaporizka, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Donetsk, Luhansk, Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytsky, Poltava, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk).
AGROTECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: the variety must be placed after the best predecessors. It needs and responds well to high levels of mineral nutrition. Specific for mineral nutrition of the variety is the need for early spring top dressing on frozen soil and application of fertilizers from autumn (before or after sowing). To ensure high grain yields, it is also necessary to carry out 2-3 times protection of plants from pests and diseases, especially after throwing out the ear, with fungicides such as alto super, falcon or folikur. In order to obtain high-quality grain, it is necessary to carry out the third top dressing with dry nitrogen fertilizers or foliar top dressing with urea N10-15 kg per ha in the stage of earing — milk ripeness. The seed sowing rate is 5.5-6.0 million similar grains per 1 ha, depending on the zone and moisture supply. Sow in the second half of the optimal terms.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VARIETY:
— has an extended period of postharvest dormancy, which must be taken into account when determining seed germination;
— prone to cross-pollination, which causes slight variability in stem height within the main phenotype of the variety;
- the depth of wrapping
seeds should be no more than 5-7 cm.
