Composition:

1 ml of the drug contains the active substance:

chlorhexidine bigluconate - 1.5 mg.

Auxiliary substances: propylene glycol, tris, EDTA, lactic acid, purified water.

Pharmacological properties:

Chlorhexidine exhibits antimicrobial activity against many gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E.coli., Clostridium spp., etc.), yeasts, dermatophytes, protozoa, and some viruses. It acts mainly locally, practically not being absorbed from the surface of the skin and mucous membranes. It does not have an irritating or ototoxic effect, even with damage to the eardrum.

The presence in the composition of the tris-EDTA complex, a chelating agent that binds Ca and Mg ions, causing an increase in the permeability of cell membranes, enhances the antimicrobial activity of chlorhexidine and provides a synergistic effect.

Application:

The drug is used as a hygienic agent for cleaning the ears of dogs and cats.

Supports the health of the ears, removes old pollution and unpleasant odors well, reduces the number of deadcells, dries the ear canal. Significantly improves the microflora of the ears. Has a soothing effect, eliminates itching.

It can be used as an additional agent in the treatment of chronic bacterial otitis, as well as before applying medicinal preparations for ear diseases, enhancing and accelerating their action and contributing to the animal's speedy recovery.

Dosage and method of application:

The drug is introduced into the external auditory canal in an amount sufficient to moisten the inner surface of the auricle and auditory canal (1-5 ml, depending on the size of the animal), and the ear is massaged for about a minute. For greater effectiveness, you can leave the lotion in the ear for 3-5 minutes. The intensity of massaging depends on the soreness of the ears. Then, a cotton swab or napkin is used to remove the mixture of the drug and ear secretions from the ear canal.
