Granulated barley-hop (beer) grain is a complex of substances with food value and biological activity.
Brewing waste attracts attention as a source of a complex of substances with nutritional value and biological activity. Such a rich protein and mineral composition of beer groats determines its use in various industries of the national economy.
Use of granulated barley-hop (beer) grit in animal husbandry:
Raw beer groats in raw form have long been used by livestock breeders to feed domestic animals as milk-producing high-protein fodder and poultry. As a rule, beer groats are used as fodder for ruminant animals, however, it can also be fed to other animals using the groats granulation method.

Granulated barley-hop (beer) grit is also used for feeding beef cattle, but it is not recommended for fattening bulls. Granulated crumbs are used for fodder for the following groups of animals: agricultural animals and poultry; rabbits;
furred animals; dogs.
Currently, the deficit of protein fodder in Ukraine is more than 25%, and animal fodder is more than 40%. In the world, including in Ukraine, the issues of production of traditional dry animal feed based on bone and meat-and-bone meal are particularly acute due to the fact that the volume of their production has decreased sharply due to the danger of infection of animals with viral diseases and "mad cow disease".
The waste of the brewing industry, most of which is watery, perishable products, is used inefficiently, which is explained by the lack of drying facilities in the places where they are obtained, as well as the imperfection of methods of preserving and transporting them. The main reason for the impossibility of wide use of raw grit is its storage time and difficulties in transportation. So, at a temperature of 15-30 o C, the grain is seeded and sour, as a result of which its storage period is 48-74 hours.
The most rational way of processing is granulation of dried barley and hop flakes.
Granulated beer grain is stable during storage and transportable. The results of the researches of many research institutes allow us to draw a conclusion about the unconditional prospect of using dry beer pellets. Such lines can be installed directly at breweries or on the basis of autonomous independent enterprises, including those producing
compound feed. Granulated barley-hop (beer) grain is used in animal husbandry as a therapeutic-prophylactic fodder unit and the basis of a fodder ration with a therapeutic-prophylactic focus.
