Growing conditions.
Seeds beets germinate at a temperature of 5°C. Seedlings do not tolerate frost well. Sowing of beets is carried out in autumn, winter and spring. In the spring, sowing begins in April, when the soil temperature rises to +8...+10 degrees. For winter, they are sown in late October-early November, to get production at the end of June. Seed sowing rate for spring sowing — 1.5-2 g/m2, for winter sowing — 2-3 g/m2. The seed depth is 2-3 cm for spring sowing and 3-4 cm for winter sowing. Beets are thinned twice: the first time — when 1-2 true leaves appear, at a distance of 3-4 cm, the second time — when the plants have 4-5 leaves and the root crop reaches 3-5 cm in diameter, at a distance of 6-8 cm. During the period of beet growth, at least two fertilizations are carried out with mineral fertilizers: in the first half of the growing season, nitrogen fertilizers are the most important, and in the second (during the formation of root crops) — potash-
phosphorus fertilizers. During the summer, beets are watered 2-3 times. 2 weeks before
harvest, watering is stopped.
