The variety of soft winter wheat Donetskaya 48 was bred by crossing the varieties Kharkivskaya 11 and Donetskaya 46 with subsequent selection from the hybrid population of the fourth generation. Variety Lutescens.
The variety is mid-early. The height of the plants is 95-110 cm, it is quite resistant to lying. The flag leaf is located at an angle of 300 to the stem, which increases the photosynthetic ability of the variety.
Diseases affect the average. The variety is quite drought-resistant, although it also responds positively to irrigation. The frost and winter resistance of the Donetskaya 48 variety is above average.(//tractor-service.com)
The baking qualities of grain are good and high. Crude gluten content 28.4%, IDK-77 units of the device, flour strength 260 alveograph units, volume yield of bread from 100 g of flour 1035 ml. The overall rating of the bread is 4.2 points.
The yield potential of Donetskaya 48 grain is high. During the years of competitive variety testing at the institute, the average grain yield was 68.7 t/ha in the black pair, 7.6 above the standard, after corn onsilo – 55.2 t/ha, up 7.1 t/ha, in the forest-steppe zone, respectively, 61.5 t/ha and 5.7 t/ha, Polesie – 55.0 t/ha and 2.4 t/ha. The excess of grain yield over the standard in all zones of Ukraine indicates its plasticity.
The Donetskaya 48 variety can be sown both by black and occupied pairs, and by non-paired predecessors. Compared to other varieties, it produces higher grain yields when grown with no soil tillage. In order to obtain high yields of grain of the Donetskaya 48 variety, it is necessary to observe all the agrotechnical requirements for the cultivation of winter wheat.
