Hinged roller harvester ZHVN-6U (ZhVN-6U-01) is intended for mowing grain, ear and cereal crops with a separate method of harvesting with stacking of the mown mass in a single roll. It is used in all soil and climatic zones. The harvester can be used as a skimmer, a skimmer and for double rolls, for which a diverter shield is provided on the left side.
Distinctive features of the ZhVN-6B and ZhVN-6A harvesters:
- introduced a fundamentally new gearless conveyor and knife drive scheme;
- a cutting device with a special SHUMACHER type knife is used on the harvester;
- improved design of the connecting rod and knife drive pulleys;
- a stamped steel variator of the reel drive with the use of rolling bearings and a steel sprocket is used;
- the harvester is equipped with a new anti-winding two-eccentric reel, which completely eliminates the winding of plant mass;
- the beam of the cutting apparatus, the upper belt of the harvester frame, side walls, the reel beam and other elements of it have been significantly strengthened, which increased the reliability of the harvester;(//tractor-service.com)
- the platform extending towards the discharge window guarantees the quality of roll formation and high reliability of the technological process.

The ZhVN-6U harvester is hung on the combine harvesters SK-5M "Niva", "Niva Effect", "Enisei-1200" (released before 01.01.2003), SKD-5 "Sibiryak" directly on the inclined chamber of the combine without causing disassembly of the main units .
The ZhVN-6U(-01,-02) model is a modification of the serial ZhVN-6U harvester and is fully prepared for aggregation with self-propelled chassis of KPS-5G, KPS-5B, D-101 mower-conditioners and E 301-304 power supplies. It differs from the basic model in the presence of a hinge system and an intermediate transmission.
