Salsa® - application on rapeseed
Salsa® is a systemic herbicide for the control of major dicot weeds in the post-emergence period of rapeseed crops. The optimal time to apply the Salsa® herbicide on rapeseed is from the emergence of crop seedlings (cotyledons) to 8 leaves of the crop (possible application before the formation of flower buds), in the early stages of weed development (cotyledons - 2 leaves).
 
Salsa® - the mechanism of action.
The active substance of Salsa® herbicide — ethametsulfuron-methyl — belongs to the class of sulfonylureas (ALS inhibitor). It is highly selective for rapeseed plants, has systemic effects and quickly penetrates weed plants. Able to show both foliar and partial soil activity (in case of precipitation after application). It is active in both warm and cold conditions (from +5 °С) and can be used both in autumn (on winter rapeseed crops) and in spring. After Salsa® treatment, sensitive types of weeds stop growing, stop competing with the crop for nutrients, water and lighting. Visible symptoms of herbicide action appear after 7–10 days in the form of growth cessation, yellowing, chlorosis and necrosis of leaves. The death of weeds occurs after 15 or more days (depending on climatic conditions, application rate and stage of development of weeds at the time of spraying).
 
Salsa® - recommendations and warnings
• Salsa® herbicide is registered in the Russian Federation for use on rapeseed in winter and spring, it must be used together with PAV TREND® 90 at the rate of 0.1% of the working solution.
• Do not use more than 25 g/ha in the consumption rate. Do not use more than once per season.(//tractor-service.com)
• After the autumn application of the Salsa® herbicide, if it is necessary to reseed the winter rapeseed processed in the fall, it is possible to reseed it with winter wheat. Winter barley can be sown 45 days after the application of Salsa® herbicide. Before sowing winter barley, it is necessary to plow or cultivate the soil to a depth of at least 22 centimeters.
• If it is necessary to reseed winter rapeseed processed in the fall, it is possible to reseed it with spring wheat, spring barley, spring rapeseed, corn,sunflower,potato in the spring of the following year. Before sowing, it is necessary to carry out minimalprocessing of the soil to a depth of 10 centimeters.
• After the spring application of Salsa® herbicide, if it is necessary to reseed winter or spring rapeseed, it is possible to reseed it with corn and sunflower, after plowing or minimal cultivation of the soil.
• After winter or spring rape, treated in the spring with Salsa® herbicide, it is possible to sow winter barley and winter wheat at the same time after plowing or minimal soil cultivation. In the spring of the following year, after plowing or cultivating the soil, you can sow oats, wheat, barley, corn, soybeans, and sunflower.
• If Salsa® was used in a mixture or in sequence with other herbicides, it is also necessary to take into account the reseeding recommendations specified in the labels of these herbicides.
