Ammonium sulfate is a fertilizer in gray-yellow granules.
The solubility of this drug in water, as well as its hygroscopicity, if compared with
ammonia nitrate, below.
If the relative air humidity is high enough, up to 80%, the fertilizer does not absorb water.
Ammonium sulfate represents a physiologically acidic salt (for the neutralization of 1t of fertilizer, 1.13t of CaCO3 is needed).

It is introduced into the soil as the main fertilizer of soils with a high degree of saturation with bases (such as gray earths, black earths, chestnuts), on sod-podzolic soils it can be used only after liming.
When applied, ammonium sulfate dissolves well in water, is available and easily absorbed by plants, is relatively mobile and does not wash out of the soil under conditions of normal moisture and irrigation.
In terms of effectiveness, it is not inferior to ammonium nitrate and
urea, but in terms of physicochemical properties (non-flammable, explosion-proof, does not shrink during long-term storage) and its cost, it favorably differs and has a clear advantage.
