Pea - diaper - an annual plant of the bean family.
Green manure, fodder and honey culture.
How siderat is valued for its early maturity (one of the best among legumes), which makes it possible to use it in intermediate crops (before winter or after winter and early spring cereals and vegetables). Peas are used simultaneously for both food and fertilizer purposes. Drains, improves soil structure, increases its air and moisture capacity.
For food purposes and for seeds, they are grown independently, sowing in April-May.
For green fodder and fertilizer to obtain a larger harvest of better quality, it is advisable to sow in mixtures with "supporting" cultures.
Choose a sunny place for planting. Insufficient lighting affects the yield, the taste of the pods and the peas themselves. The plant grows well on any soil except strongly acidified. It is recommended to disinfect it before planting. Peas are a cold-resistant plant, so they are planted early, most often in mid-April, as soon as the snow melts and the ground warms up a little. There should be a sufficient amount of moisture in the soil, which is necessary for normal seed germination. Seeds are planted in narrow strips with a row width of 40–45 cm and a distance between peas of 4–5 cm. Sprinkle fertile soil on top with a layer of at least 3 cm.
Peas are an excellent precursor for almost all vegetable crops, except legumes. The best predecessor will be
peas pumpkin, cucumbers, cabbage,
potatoes, spring and winter crops. Many gardeners practice joint planting of peas with other plants.
Peas have a hollow, rather weak stem, which falls due to gravity when the fruits appear. Therefore, when growing tall varieties of peas, it is recommended to prepare and install supports.

Peas are harvested as they mature, gradually. Pods-blades of sugar varieties begin to be plucked early, before reaching the ripening phase of peas. Timely collection of blades promotes the formation and filling of new pods. If you adhere to this rule and do not leave a single fruit on the plant, the sugar varieties can bloom again by August and give another harvest.
Peas, like other legumes, are often grown as siderates, capable of improving soil composition. In this plan, planting peas solves the following problems:
· restores soil nutrients, saturates it with such substances as nitrogen, phosphorus, calcium and potassium;
· improves the air permeability of the soil;
· suppresses the growth of weeds and disease-causing bacteria;
· attracts insects.
If peas are sown only as siderate, then they are cut and buried in the soil immediately after flowering.
