The starting engine is started with the help of an electric starter ST362 with an electromagnetic traction relay. The starter is a four-pole DC motor of serial excitation powered by a battery. It is turned on remotely by the VK-317-A2 switch installed on the instrument panel. The starter armature rotates in two bronze graphite bearings pressed into the stator covers. The engagement of the starter gear with the crown of the engine flywheel and the transmission of the torque from the starter are carried out with the help of a drive with a free-wheeling roller clutch that moves along the screw slots of the armature shaft. The movement of the drive and the introduction of the gear into engagement with the crown of the flywheel is carried out with the help of a lever connected by a spring-loaded earring to the anchor of the traction relay. Fastening of the starter on the engine is flanged with the help of two bolts.
