Campsis (tekoma) is a fast-growing liana that forms air-sucking roots that cling to a support and can climb to a height of up to 15 m. Campsis is very decorative, resistant to urban conditions, smoke- and gas-resistant. The main decorativeness of this creeper is given by the large tubular-funnel-shaped flowers, 8-9 cm long and 5 cm in diameter. The first flowers begin to bloom in mid-June, flowering continues until September.
Campsis is light-loving and requires a sheltered location. Unpretentious to soils and can grow even on heavy loams, but it grows better and blooms profusely on fertile soil. With sufficient nitrogen-phosphorus nutrition, the duration of flowering of the thecoma intensifies and increases. It is best to cut off old, faded stems at the end of winter. Like most lianas, campsis tolerates pruning, so if desired, the plant can be given any shape.
