Bearded irises are perennial rhizome plants that have their own characteristics:
First, the peculiarity of irises is that their rhizomes grow horizontally and often become bare, coming to the surface. Therefore, irises must be sprinkled with earth and peat in winter so that they do not freeze. In the spring, this coating is carefully removed.
Secondly, irises like to move, and in one hour they can shift their location to the side by several centimeters. In order for the rows to look more even, irises should be planted with a fan of leaves along, not across the row.
Thirdly, bearded iris must be planted on sand: sand is poured into the bottom of the hole and the iris root is spread over it. With deep planting, the iris will either disappear or will not bloom.
Fourth, do not feed irisesorganic fertilizers, they do not like them. The best type of top dressing is mineral fertilizers in liquid form.
