Ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3) is one of the most common
nitrogen fertilizers. Contains 34% nitrogen (50% in the form of NH4 + and 50% in the form of NO3-). This is a physiologically slightly acidic salt of white or cream color, easily dissolves in water. They are released mainly in granular form. After introduction into the soil, ammonium is absorbed by the soil absorbent complex, which reduces its mobility, and partially undergoes nitrification. The nitrogen form of nitrogen forms easily soluble salts that can be leached into the deeper layers of the soil, i.e. get lost This property of ammonium nitrate limits its use as a basic fertilizer on light soils. Ammonium nitrate is considered a universal
fertilizer. It is applied in different ways to all crops. It is an indispensable fertilizer for top-up of winter and fallow crops and for application during sowing.
