Gland packings made of asbestos
They are used to fill gland chambers with the purpose of sealing movable and immovable connections of various machines and devices. The operational properties of packings depend on their composition and structure. Asbestos packings are divided into dry (clean and graphitized) and impregnated (fatty, graphite adhesive compounds, fluoroplastic suspension), reinforced (brass wire) and unreinforced. According to the structure of the weaving, there is a distinction between through-weave stuffing and stuffing with single-layer and multi-layer braiding of the core.
