Chalk MMS-2 is a sedimentary rock, its chemical composition is pure calcium carbonate CaСО3. MMS-2 chalk is soft, easily crushed, and forms a suspension when mixed with water. To recognize chalk, it is dissolved in hydrochloric acid. At the same time, the chalk emits carbon dioxide with a hiss. Chalk is resistant to the action of alkalis, does not change its color under the action of hydrogen sulfide and sulfur compounds, is light-resistant. The coverage of chalk is not regulated by the standard, according to observations it is 100–120 g/m2. Natural chalk can be lumpy or ground, obtained by grinding lumpy chalk in a mill.
