Тіаметоксам належить до хімічного класу неоникотиноїдів. Після потрапляння в організм комахи діє на нервову систему комах блокуючи передачу нервового імпульсу на рівні ацетилхолінового рецептору постсинаптичної мембрани. Комахи перестають живитися та в подальшому гинуть.
