Repair of power steering KAMAZ 5511 (Repair of KAMAZ power steering)
To date, in the modifications of KamAZ Euro-2 and KamAZ Euro-3 cars with a Cummins engine, three types of steering mechanisms of the RBL brand have received the widest distribution and use: C-300V, C-500V, C-700V. According to the principle of operation and purpose, they are practically identical to the power steering (Guru) KamAZ-4310 Euro. The differences consist in the change and strengthening of the design of some elements, the addition of an angle reducer, the attachment of the steering bipod has been changed, etc. The power steering of the RBL power steering is equipped with a hydraulic limiter of rotation. This device prevents damage to the steering rods, since at the final position of the hydraulic booster piston, the adjusting screw rests against the limiting valve, which redirects the oil to the drain.

The longevity of RBL power steering, like any other hydraulic unit or part, directly depends on timely maintenance and the purity of the working fluid. During daily maintenance, the condition of the steering wheel drive is checked without any special tools. The filling filter and the filtering element are washed, and if they are significantly clogged with tarry deposits, they are additionally treated with a special solvent. During seasonal maintenance, the oil in the Gura RBL KamAZ-6520 system (Euro2 and Euro3) must be completely replaced.
Air remaining in the RBL power steering hydraulic system (RBL steering gear) leads to rapid pump failure and damage to parts of the steering mechanism. About the presence of air in the system or its ingress, it says foaming
oil in the tank of the power steering pump RBL (steering gear RBL), external leaks and saltiness of the system, strong noise of the pump. Likewise, if after stopping the engine,
lubricant level rises 10 mm or more in the tank, there is air remaining in the RBL power steering hydraulic system or getting into it. To avoid damage to the Hur RBL P1617 pump, it is necessary to eliminate the presence of air in the hydraulic system and be sure to eliminate and prevent air from entering the power steering system.
