A variety of dicoccum, the ear is red, spiny, of medium length, pyramidal in shape, medium in density, not brittle. The spikes are jagged, longer than the ear. The grain is red, elongated. The weight of 1000 grains is 30–34 g, it has high resistance to germination and shedding. The straw is moderately filled, the bush is semi-erect. Spike scale not pubescent, elongated, shoulder beveled, medium, tooth very short, slightly bent.
The variety differs from classic spelt by a slight filminess at the level of 17% (in Polba 3 – 76%), which makes it suitable for mechanized sowing and harvesting with ordinary agricultural tools. At the same time, the porridge from the new variety has a nutty taste and high taste qualities inherent in the classic spelled. During the years of study in the competitive variety test of 2010–2012, it showed the following indicators in comparison with the Heritage standard and film spelled: yield - 3.01 t/ha (less by 0.19 t/ha; more by 1.08 t/ha) ; protein content – 17.15% (1.77% more, 0.2% more); resistance against lying down - 7 points (less by 1 point; more by 4 points). Compared to the standard
wheat hard spring variety Spadshchyna, the new variety Golikovska has increased resistance to brown rust (affected by 4.2%, which is 3.6% lower than the standard) and to solid soot (affected by 10.2%, which is 5.2% lower than the standard). In terms of resistance against powdery mildew and septoriosis, it is at the standard level.
The ancestor of modern wheat varieties is spelled, which is called "black caviar" among cereals. To this high "title" spelled owes its unsurpassed taste qualities, undoubted benefit and worldwide popularity. Compared to varieties of ordinary wheat, spelled contains several times more magnesium, iron, vitamins and zinc. Spelled has a low gluten content, so its dishes are recommended for people with gluten allergies. It is especially useful for people who suffer from excess
weight and diabetes: it contains vitamin B6, which contributes to the normal assimilation of fats and the removal of excess cholesterol from the body.
