The originator is the Vinnytsia State Agricultural Research Station. Winterrape Black Giant is one of the profitable options for cultivation in any conditions on the territory of Ukraine. Resistant to lodging, drought, shedding, frost and some pests and diseases. Black Giant variety of medium-late type. The height of the plant reaches about 165 — 170 cm. It should be noted separately the short duration of the growing season, which is 292 — 323 days. The plant has a rounded stem, the thickness of which reaches about 14-17 mm. Hybrid bush, forms 7-8 branches of the 1st order. The inflorescence of the Black Giant rape variety is whale-like, reaching a length of 26-37 cm. The flowers are yellow. The Black Giant fruit is a pod of 8-10 cm. Each pod contains 25-31 black seeds of a regular spherical shape. The seeds are black. The weight of 1000 seeds is 3.0-5.0 g. The content of oil in the seeds is 45.5%, the content of glucosinolates is 0.9%, erucic acid is -0.3%.

The variety is resistant to lodging and shedding. It is distinguished by high resistance to drought. Recommended for regular sowing in all regions of Ukraine.

The optimal density for the harvesting period is 700-800 thousand plants per 1 ha. During the years of state variety testing, the average yield was 28.8 t/ha.
