Badan tolstolistny - belongs to the genus Badan, a rather polymorphic family of the stone-breaking family, which is widely distributed in regions with a temperate and cold climate of the Northern Hemisphere, as well as in mountain ecosystems of the tropics and Andes of South America. The genus Badan is one of the small groups of quarries, which includes 6 species that grow from Altai to the Pacific Ocean. Along with its scientific name, thick-leaved badan has other popular names - thick-leaved bergenia, thick-leaved stonecrop, Mongolian tea; Its leathery, rounded, large evergreen leaves gave it the name - "Elephant Ears". Raw materials are prepared throughout the summer (until the end of the growing season). The rhizomes are cleaned of soil and small roots, cut into pieces (10-15 cm long) and dried for about three weeks at a temperature of 45°C until air-dry. Before drying, the rhizomes are weakened. Dried rhizomes are used to make a liquid extract. In the spring, dry leaves that have overwintered for at least one hour are also harvested. The raw material can be stored for up to 5 years.
