The sheets are 500x500, 500x1000 and 1000x1000 mm in size. Thickness from 2.0 mm to 30 mm.
Fluoroplast-4 is a polymer of tetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a plastic that has rare physical and chemical properties and is widely used in technology and everyday life. Produced according to GOST 10007-80, GOST 21000-81, TU 6-05-810-88.
Density according to GOST 10007-80 is from 2.18 to 2.21 g/cm3. It has high heat and frost resistance, remains flexible and elastic at temperatures from -70 to +270 °C, an excellent insulating material. Fluoroplast has very low surface tension and adhesion and is not wetted by water, fats, or most organic solvents.
Fluoroplastic is a soft and fluid material that has limited use in loaded structures. Has very low adhesion (stickiness).
In terms of its chemical resistance, it surpasses all known synthetic materials and noble metals. It is not destroyed under the influence of alkalis, acids and even a mixture of nitric and hydrochloric acids. It is destroyed by melts of alkali metals, fluorine and chlorine trifluoride. Spheres of application of fluoroplastic F4:
- in mechanical engineering. Owing to its resistance to friction and aggressive media, oil seals, bearings, piston rings, dust caps, and automobile tires are made of polymer. Heat resistance allows you to make parts for motors from it;
- in electrical and radio engineering. The material can be used as an insulator or current conductor (when making modifications to its molecular structure). PCBs, cables, relay elements and switches are made from polytetrafluoroethylene. - in light industry. Processing products with this polymer makes them waterproof.
- in the chemical industry. Teflon is used for the production of laboratory utensils, including anti-corrosion tubes for chromatographs.
- in medicine. The use of fluoroplastic in the production of prostheses of blood vessels and internal organs is due to the fact that it does not cause immunological reactions.
- in the food industry. Teflon is used in the production of pans and forms for baking with a non-stick coating, syringes for creams, containers for perishable products, rolling mechanisms for dough.
