Ferrotungsten, Dnipropetrovsk region.

"
Ferrotungsten is obtained by smelting from wolframite and scheelite concentrates.(//tractor-service.com)
The introduction of tungsten into steel has a beneficial effect on their mechanical properties at high temperatures, increases heat resistance and resistance to tempering. In addition, ferrotungsten increases the hardness and wear resistance of alloys, increases the strength and yield strength of steel with a slight decrease in relative elongation. Addition of tungsten to the alloy in the form of ferrotungsten delaysgrain growth and creates a fine-grained structure when heated. Therefore, it is mainly used in the production of tool steels (for example, high-speed) and heat-resistant alloys.
