Persimmons Virgin (seedling) blooms in June, yellow, fragrant flowers. Fruits are spherical or conical, 4.5 - 5 cm in diameter (up to 50 g), yellow, tasty. Fruiting begins in 2-4 hours. Trees are mostly dioecious: plants with female (from which fruits are formed) and with male (for pollination) flowers, and monoecious ones are very rare.
Male flowers are small and arranged in groups, and female flowers are large, single. Prefers areas sheltered from the wind. The most frost-resistant species of the persimmon genus, withstanding frosts up to -30°C, in practice (short-term) up to -35°C. Soils are best acidic and neutral (pH 5-8), light. A good honey bee.
