It is a time-tested fact: an ad, even the perfect one, will not work if you choose the wrong bulletin boards to post on. Sure, you can post hundreds of ads on different boards, but imagine which one will monitor them and how long it will take to remove them once the item is sold. Fortunately, there is often no point in sacrificing precious time and you can limit yourself to posting on 5-10 or even fewer boards.
A few simple tips will outline the guidelines for a successful search.
Search engines will help you find boards
To find suitable bulletin boards, put yourself in the buyer's shoes and think about how you would search for the product you want to sell. Enter your search queries into
Google with the words "advertising" or "bulletin board" (without quotes) and look at the boards that are found in the first 10-20 results...
The board must be "alive"!
It is important that the board not only seems to be alive and visited, but is actually so. There are hundreds or even thousands of boards on the net, which at first glance seem very complete, with many sections in which there are announcements and flashing advertisements. As a result, placement takes time, and the effect of ads is zero.
Digging deeper, it becomes clear that these sites provide no real value to sellers and buyers and are only created to make money from advertising. In order not to waste time on similar boards, you should pay attention to:
- visits (sometimes there is a counter at the bottom of the page where you can see the visits for the current day; you can also use the site evaluation service, for example:https://www.similarweb.com/)
- the presence of fresh ads in the section where you plan to publish the ads;
- general impression of the site, incl. usability of the interface;
- reviews/mentions on forums, etc.
In general, you should make sure that you find a really full-fledged, "living" bulletin board. A cursory analysis of the board takes about 1 minute.
The territory is the whole country or its own region?
Most often, there is a question of choosing between large boards that work throughout the country and smaller regional ones. The idea that a regional board is more effective was true for print media, in our case, the more popular the board is, the better... Now any board offers a search by region, for example: on such large boards as
OLX and
Ukrboard sellers and buyers find each other all over Ukraine.
Board topics and target audience
Obviously, there are more visitors on large boards, accordingly, it seems that the goods will sell faster, but...
- On large boards there are more users, accordingly, the competition is higher, published ads quickly go deep into the rubrics;
- Big boards are not always the most effective in all topics, for exampleUkrboard andOLX will not be able to matchtractor-service.com in terms of efficiency agricultural announcements.
According to statistics, about 75% of buyers look for goods on large boards. There is still a fourth part of the audience, which focuses on thematic, highly specialized resources, both regional and far beyond the borders of Ukraine, for example: collectors, aquarists, etc.
Time to drink a cup of coffee in peace
Thus, if you pre-evaluate the boards for posting, you can significantly reduce the time for posting and further work with ads without the risk of losing customers... and also save your nerves, because the boards are different...
Good luck to you!
