The transgenic hybrid of Catalina corn is an advanced product of the Canadian farming company SERTIS HOLDING GROUP, developed for the most arid and unfavorable regions. That is why this seed material is excellent for all territories of Ukraine.
The hybrid was created using modern nano-technologies and tested in countries such as Ethiopia, Libya, Angola and Mozambique, where the average air temperature rarely drops below +50 C. Even in similar growing conditions, the Catalina hybrid showed excellent results in yield, germination and germination energy.
The corn of this hybrid has a powerful root system, while the well-developed main root goes into the soil to a depth of about two meters. The main part of the root system develops at a depth not exceeding 80 cm. Colonies of nitrogen-fixing bacteria are formed on the roots of corn, which makes this hybrid an excellent option for intermediate crops.
In the process of plant development, the plants show all the advantages of this seed material: the stalk of corn is strong, has no cavity inside, the leaves are large enough, the ears of corn are long (up to 32 cm) and heavy (about 650 g) contain a large number of grains.
The yield of the hybrid does not depend on the presence or absence of pollinating insects, as the hybrid is self-pollinating.
The Catalina corn hybrid has proven itself as a drought- and frost-resistant hybrid. Plants in the early stages of development tolerate frost well down to -12 C. Maize is not subject to abiotic processes of various kinds, the yield also does not fall even with excessive moisture content in the soil.
Transgenic seed material allows corn to cope with all corn diseases, such as early rot, seed mold, fusarium, rust, etc.
The hybrid has increased productivity: 190-195 centners can be obtained from one hectare. Such results are achieved largely due to the general unpretentiousness of the plants and the excellent qualities of the grain: it ripens evenly, is not subject to cracking and is firmly fixed inside the cob. This also allows you to significantly save on the desiccation of plants.
The weight of 1000 seeds is 310 grams.

The rate of seeding of Catalina corn per 1 ha is 18 kg with precision seed drills or spot seed drills CUPN-12A (ХТЗ-161) СПЧ-6 SUPN–8 (МТЗ 80–82) with a movement speed of the unit of 4-5 km/h.
