Frames are a necessary, even an indispensable element of every bee house, without which it will be very problematic for insects to build honeycombs. Frames serve an average of up to 10 years, gradually loosening, warping and losing the necessary tension of the wire.
Correct sizes of bee frames will ensure ease of use (maintenance
hive, replacement, honey pumping, bee productivity).
Standard sizes
frames for beehives have been discussed since 1814, when P. I. Prokopovich created the first frame beehive, but this idea was implemented only in 1918, after the congress of beekeepers of the USSR in Kyiv. Certain standards for the production of frames for hives, according to the well-known beekeeper V. Yu. Shimansky, will simplify the activities of beekeepers.
standard frames for bees of the following sizes were determined at the Kyiv Congress:
43.5*30 cm, according to the Dadan-Blata type, the upper bar protrudes by 1.5 cm from both sides;
43.5*23 cm, according to the Langstroth-Rutt type, the upper bar protrudes by 1 cm on both sides;
43.5*14.5 cm – store frame for honey accumulation (store – area for collecting ready honey);
43.5*30 cm – Ukrainian frame, according to the first type, only in the inverted form;

28.5*44.8 cm – Dadana modified;
33*25 cm – Kuncha.
In addition, the following indicators are taken into account:
- 37 - 38 mm – should be between the axes of the adjacent frames; 170
- 20 - 30 мм – составляет расстояние рамок от нижнего ряда до дна корпуса улья;
- 5 - 7 мм – расстояние от стенок до боковых реек.
Beekeepers are sure that the thinner the width of the bars, the more space is left for the bees to build combs. Having significantly reduced this indicator in all frameworks, you can get up to 1.5 kg of additional honey.
The frame for the beehives is made from a pine planed board of chamber drying (12%-14% humidity) on professional woodworking equipment, which is reflected in the quality of the product, namely, the ideal geometry, the absence of deviations in dimensions and surfaces that do not require grinding.
