ORIGINATOR: Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Myroniv Wheat Institute named after V. M. Remesla NAAS.
ENTERED INTO THE REGISTRY OF PLANT VARIETIES OF UKRAINE in 2005 for cultivation in the steppe, forest-steppe and steppe zones of Ukraine. However, it provides good harvests in the Steppe zone.
BIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS: medium-stem variety, medium-ripening. Vegetation period 283-287 days. It has average winter and high drought resistance. Resistant to lodging, damage by powdery mildew and brown leaf rust. Resistant to germination and
grain shedding. Variety lutescens.

GRAIN QUALITY: flour milling and bread-making properties are good.
Grain of the variety Favorite contains 12.5-13.8% protein, 26.7-30.1% crude gluten, flour strength 248-296 a.o., volume of bread from 100 g of flour 960-1000 ml, overall assessment of baking properties 4.0 - 4.5 points. Belongs to valuable wheat.
ECONOMIC CHARACTERISTICS: high-yielding, high-intensity variety. Ensures obtaining high and stable harvests over the years on different backgrounds of mineral nutrition. Undemanding to growing conditions, predecessors and sowing dates, has high ecological plasticity. According to the originator (IFRG of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine), over the years of the competitive trial, the average yield of Favoritka was 73.0 t/ha, which was 15.0 t/ha higher than the yield of the national standard.
AGROTECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: the variety must be grown using intensive technology with the introduction of optimal and high doses of mineral fertilizers. At high levels of mineral nutrition, in order to prevent lodging, it is necessary to apply retardants. To ensure high grain yields, it is also necessary to protect plants from pests and diseases, especially after throwing out the ear, with fungicides such as Alto Super, Falcon or Folicur.
In order to obtain high-quality grain, it is necessary to carry out the third top dressing with dry nitrogen fertilizers or foliar top dressing with urea N10-15 kg per ha in the phase of earing-milk ripeness.
Sowing rate
seeds 5.5-6.0 million similar grains per 1 ha depending on the zone and moisture supply.
