Compatibility
To expand the spectrum of herbicidal activity, it is advisable to use the drug in tank mixtures with herbicides based on the active substances clopyralid, lenacil, chlorizadone, triflusulfuron-methyl and graminicides. However, in each specific case, it is advisable to conduct an additional check of the drugs for compatibility.

Mechanism of action.
Successfully selected active ingredients of the Betagard herbicide lead to destructive and irreversible processes in weed plants: disruption of photosynthesis, lipid synthesis, protein metabolism, delay in growth and cell division, preventing the formation of a wax coating.

Betagard has a combined mechanism of action on weeds - through the leaf apparatus and the soil. Phenmedifam and desmedifam are mobile inhibitors of photosynthesis - after penetrating the leaves, they concentrate in the chloroplasts and cause blocking of the photosynthetic apparatus. Etofumesate (sprouting inhibitor) is absorbed by different parts of plants - dicotyledons absorb the substance through the roots, in monocotyledons it penetrates through the coleoptile during germination.

Visual signs of the action of the drug - lightening of the color of the leaves and, subsequently, chlorosis - appear 2-7 days after treatment with the herbicide. Complete death of weeds occurs after 2-3 weeks.

The rate of consumption of the working solution is 200-300 l/ha, it should be taken into account that the concentration of the working solution of the BETAGARD drug should not be lower than 0.4%, i.e. not less than 0.4 l of the drug per 100 l of water.

Properties of the drug.
One of the active ingredients of the drug - etofumesate - is absorbed by young weed sprouts when they come into contact with an aqueous solution of etofumesate in the soil. Therefore, increased soil moisture helps to increase the effectiveness of etofumesate, while drought and a high content of organic matter in the soil, on the contrary, reduce it.

Recommendations for use.
Treatment of beet crops with the drug is carried out at the appearance of the first, second and third wave of weeds with an interval of 7-14 days. The effectiveness of the application depends on compliance with the recommendations on the norms of the use of the drug regarding the phase of weed development. If the treatments are delayed (overgrown weeds), the effect may be absent. The maximum effect is achieved with three-time treatment of crops (usage rate 1 l/ha) during the phase of weed development - cotyledons. Two-time processing with a rate of use of 1.5 l/ha is carried out when the weeds have 2-4 true leaves in the development phase. A single application of the herbicide (usage rate of 3 l/ha) is possible in the early stages of weed development, the presence of at least 4 pairs of true leaves in beets and optimal conditions for their development.

It is not recommended to spray beets on plants wet from precipitation or dew, when the weeds are in a state of stress (weakened by cultivation, heat, frost, diseases or pests) and less than 6 hours before precipitation!!!

To avoid the risk of burning beetroot plants, you should avoid applying the drug before the appearance of two true leaves of the culture.

Optimum conditions for the use of BETAGARD herbicide - temperature from + 10° C to + 25° C and the absence of strong solar radiation.
