Region: all of Ukraine, Kyiv region. (Vyshhorodok)
Updated:
Merlin® Flex Duo
Systemic contact herbicide with a reactivation effect for the control of annual monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous weeds in corn crops

Active ingredient: isoxaflutol, 50 g/l + terbuthylazine, 375 g/l + cyprosulfamide, 50 g/l
Preparative form: suspension concentrate
Manufacturer: BAYER.
Packaging: a box of 4 canisters of 5 liters each, the price is for 1 liter.

Mechanism of action:
Merlin® Flex Duo acts both systemically and contactally.
Isoxaflutol is absorbed by the root system and leaves of weeds and is transported in plants.
Terbuthylazine is a photosynthesis inhibitor, has a systemic and contact effect, is absorbed by both roots and leaves of weeds.
The drug blocks an enzyme involved in the key stages of carotenoid biosynthesis. This causes weed plants to discolor.
Emerging weeds are discolored as Merlin® Flex Duo penetrates the plant through the root system. With sufficient soil moisture, weed seedlings do not appear, or quickly die after germination.

A sufficient amount of moisture in the soil is required for high effectiveness of the drug.
After processing, in drought conditions, in the absence of contact of seeds and sprouts of weeds with the drug, the latter can germinate and continue to grow.
Precipitation of 20 mm or more restores the activity of the drug.

The antidote, which is included in the composition of the drug, provides a wide window of its application and a mild effect on the culture. Under conditions of stress in crops due to weather factors (frost, sharp changes in night and day temperatures), the effect of the antidote worsens. This is manifested by the possible temporary appearance of the "chameleon effect" on corn leaves (partial weakening of the intensity of the green coloring of parts of individual leaves). The mentioned effect disappears within one week and does not affect the yield of the crop. The drug has the ability to "wait" for the first rain or irrigation if there is no precipitation after corn processing. After moistening, the herbicidal effect of the drug is restored.

Regulations of application:

CORN
Pre-emergence or early post-emergence application
Consumption rate: 1.75-2.0 l/ha
Object against which: annual monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous weeds
Method, time of treatments: spraying after sowing or in the VE–V1 phase (BBCH 00–13) — 2-3 visible leaves

SELECTIVITY

There is no phytotoxic effect on cultivated plants if used in accordance with the label. Do not use after V1 phase (BBCH 13) or 3rd visible corn leaf. It is recommended to uniformly wrap the corn seeds to the optimal depth to prevent sprue.

Active ingredient: isoxaflutol, 750 g/kg
Preparative form: granules dispersible in water.
Packaging: 0.5 kg.(//tractor-service.com)

Mechanism of action: Merlin® acts systemically.
It is absorbed by the root system and leaves of weeds and moves in plants. The drug blocks an enzyme involved in the key stages of carotenoid biosynthesis. This causes weed plants to discolor. Emerging weeds are discolored as Merlin® penetrates the plant through the root system. With sufficient soil moisture, weed seedlings do not appear, or quickly die after germination.

IN CONDITIONS OF SUFFICIENT HUMIDITY

After application to the soil, the active substance isoxaflutol turns into diketonitrile. The content and ratio of isoxaflutol and diketonitrile in the soil directly depend on its moisture content. The higher the soil moisture, the more intensively diketonitrile is formed.

Isoxaflutol moves weakly down the profile and almost all of it remains on the soil surface. Diketonitrile is more mobile, it moves down the soil horizon and is localized in the form of a strip in the zone where the main mass of weed roots is located.

Isoxaflutol provides control of sensitive weeds that have sprouted from the upper layers of the soil, and diketonitrile - the destruction of those weeds whose seedlings have already appeared or are sprouting from deeper layers of the soil.

UNDER CONDITIONS OF INSUFFICIENT MOISTURIZATION

Like all soil herbicides, Merlin® requires a sufficient amount of soil moisture to be highly effective. In conditions of insufficient hydration, the conversion of isoxaflutol into diketonitrile stops. Isoxaflutol, relatively stable at the soil surface, plays a key role in maintaining the herbicidal activity of Merlin®. The formation of diketonitrile resumes with the appearance of precipitation.

A feature of the herbicide is the reactivation effect:
Inherent only in isoxaflutol.
Isoxaflutol acts mainly on young, germinating weeds and partly on those that have recently germinated.
Effective control can be after rainfall on weeds up to 5 cm tall (grass 2 leaves, broadleaf 4 leaves).
Larger plants are characterized by increased metabolism, and therefore the residual amount of herbicide is not sufficient for their control.
Whitening may be observed on sprouted weeds, but this does not guarantee complete destruction.
Properties:
Merlin® 750 WG, VG is a highly effective pre-emergence herbicide with a unique reactivation mechanism. Reactivation is the ability of pre-emergence herbicide Merlin® to repeatedly restore its activity during the growing season. Thanks to this mechanism, protection of corn from broadleaf and grass weeds is guaranteed throughout the season under any weather conditions.

APPLICATION:

* CORN
Spraying the soil after sowing to seedling growth.
Consumption rate: 0.1–0.15 kg/ha. The optimal application rate of Merlin® on corn is 0.13 kg/ha.
It is not necessary to wrap the drug in the soil.
Fine-drop spraying with a working fluid rate of 200-400 l/ha is recommended.

To achieve the highest effectiveness of the drug, the following recommendations should be followed:
the surface of the area where spraying is carried out must have a fine-grained structure;
keep the uniformity of spraying over the entire area of the field;
the mixer of the sprayer must work during the entire time of spraying.
Do not use on soils with an organic matter content of less than 1.5% and on soils with a pH level of less than 4 and more than 7.5. Do not apply when the seed is on the surface of the soil or is not sufficiently covered with soil. Do not water directly before or after application.

WARNING! After spraying Merlin®, inter-row tillage cannot be carried out. Such processing can lead to a decrease in the effectiveness of the drug due to the violation of the "herbicide screen" in the upper layer of the soil. Sometimes, especially in arid conditions, it is advisable to harrow the treated area with light harrows after applying Merlin®.

SELECTIVITY:
Any herbicide temporarily affects corn. This effect is manifested in the bending of leaves, their shortening, "corrugation", retardation of plant growth. In some cases and under certain conditions (cold weather with night frosts, insufficient sowing depth, heavy rain after applying Merlin®), a partial change in the color of the lower leaves of corn ("chameleon effect") can be observed. However, after 1-2 weeks this phenomenon disappears and does not affect the further growth, development of plants and the final yield of corn. Merlin® does not harm the following crop rotations.

ADVANTAGES:
The period of protective effect of Merlin® is 7-9 weeks.
The unique effect of "reactivation" is effective protection of corn fields under any weather conditions.
Exceptionally low application rate per hectare.
The widest spectrum of herbicidal action against broad-leaved and grass weeds.
Controls weed species resistant to other preemergence herbicides.
Modern, easy-to-use preparation form.
Original innovative packaging that allows precise dosing of the drug and excludes direct contact with it.
Compatibility:
Merlin® can be used in tank mixes with most herbicides, fungicides andinsecticides applied to corn, including herbicides belonging to
