Characteristics of the active substance: glyphosate belongs to organophosphorus compounds. In the soil, the drug is quickly inactivated by microorganisms, so the active substance is inert in the soil.
The isopropylamine salt of glyphosate has a continuous and systemic effect, with the ability to move through plants in the rhizomes.

Mechanism of action: In the green parts of plants, the active substance contributes to the accumulation of ammonia, which is a strong cellular poison. The drug inhibits the biosynthesis of aromatic amino acids, in particular phenylalanine and tyrosine. At the ultrastructural level, there is destruction of chloroplast membranes, swelling of the endoplasmic reticulum, and progressive disintegration of membranes. The first visual signs of herbicide effect on annual weeds appear on the 3rd - 4th day, but on perennial weeds at least on the 7th - 10th day as discoloration of plants. Complete death of plants is observed within 2 - 2.5 weeks after treatment under favorable conditions and phases of plant development.

The maximum effectiveness of the action is achieved at an average daily air temperature of +12...+25°C. Temperatures below 12°С or above 25°С can significantly affect the effectiveness of the drug. Precipitation within 4-5 hours after application can significantly reduce the effectiveness of the drug on plants.

Compatibility of the drug: In order to increase the effectiveness and speed up the action of the drug, it is possible to add a surfactant or a solution of nitrogen fertilizers to the drug. Combined use with other drugs is possible, but in each case a compatibility test must be conducted. To control a wider range of weeds, Greenfort IG 480 can be used with other pesticides. For example: Greenfort IG 480 + Greenfort DD 475. However, in each specific case it is necessary to conduct a compatibility test.
