A perennial fodder and honey plant from the legume family,

Under favorable conditions, its honey productivity reaches 200 kg/ha.
Asparagus is a valuable honey culture. It begins to bloom in the second year of life. Butterfly-type flowers, bright pink, collected in dense spike-shaped brushes. Ten stamens, one pistil, with an upper ovary.
It blooms in May-June for 20-25 days. The honey productivity of safflower reaches 280 kg per 1 ha. The early flowering of safflower usually coincides with the period of brood cultivation in bees, and a significant share of the collected honey goes to its feeding.
Asparagus nectar is colorless, slightly cloudy only in large portions, averagesugar content 46.4% in it. Nectar begins to be released from the moment of flowering, as soon as the corolla opens, and the more, the more often and intensively honey bees pick it from the flowers. The buds at the base of the branch are the first to begin to bloom, and the opening of flowers also occurs from the bottom up inside each brush. 1-2 horizontal rows of flowers open daily.
Usually the flowers that bloomed in the morning have already withered by the evening of the same day or by the morning of the next day. Flowers that open in the evening persist throughout the day. In case of unfavorable weather, preventing the flight of insects, wilting can be delayed for 1-2 days. The entire brush blooms in 2-8 days.
Esparcet develops a huge number of flowers (up to 400-500 million flowers per 1 ha), and its flowers must be visited more than once. Based on this, it is calculated that at least 3-4 strong bee colonies are required for complete pollination of 1 ha of seed crops. 142пчелиных семей. The optimal mode of use is two slopes.
Esparcet is characterized by early flowering, and the first crop yields five to ten days earlier thanalfalfa. The optimal time for harvesting asparagus and its mixtures is the period of budding and the beginning of flowering of plants, when the nutritional value of fodder is the highest.
The optimal mode of use is two slopes. The last mowing is carried out no later than a month before the plants leave for winter. With late mowing, the plants do not have time to grow back or grow back, depleting the reserves of nutrients, and do not have time to restore them. During an unfavorable winter, such plants fall.
The height of the cut is 7-8 cm. A lower mowing delays the regrowth of the asparagus, many buds and new shoots are lost.
The first mowing of grass mixtures is carried out when discarding 100% flowering grasses.
Asparagus does not need mineral nitrogen. There are more nodules on the roots,
than on the roots of alfalfa. In the summer drought, asparagus preserves fresh nodules when it is active.
they are suspended on the roots of alfalfa. Excellently absorbs phosphorus from the soil.
Pure sowing of asparagus and its mixture with cereal grasses improve the soil structure,
protecting it from water and wind erosion.
