Mechanism of action:

Challenge® belongs to the group of diphenyl ether herbicides, disrupts the synthesis of chlorophyll in weed plants. The active substance aclonifen is taken up by the coleoptile, hypocotyl and cotyledons, but not by the root system, and translocates to the meristem tissues of weed plants. Aclonifen leads to the accumulation of phyton in the plant, which inhibits the synthesis of chlorophyll and other photosynthetically active pigments. The action of Challenge® is manifested in the bleaching (discoloration) of germinating and young weed plants. Their growth stops and after 2-3 weeks they die.

Application properties:

Challenge® is applied to sunflower andcarrot crops after sowing but before crop seedlings are obtained, onions - after seedlings. The conditions for the effectiveness of the drug are its application to the fine-cloddy prepared soil, on the surface of which a protective film is formed. The preparation does not need to be plowed into the soil! Because the product enters the weed plant through the hypocotyl and cotyledons but not through the root system, mixing with the soil or breaking the protective screen results in a dramatic reduction in the effectiveness of Challenge®. The drug is not very sensitive to soil moisture during application, but effective work is manifested during favorable conditions for weed germination (moist top layer of soil, temperature +15–25 °C). The preparation weakly migrates along the soil profile even during heavy rainfall.

Challenge® is a good tank partner for acetochlor, propyzachlor based herbicides. At the same time, the active substances complement each other's effect, thanks to which the spectrum of controlled weeds is significantly expanded. In mixtures, it is recommended to use the minimum registered standards, both Challenge® and tank partners.

Rules of application of Challenge®:

*SUNFLOWER
Soil application: 3.0–6.0 l/ha after sowing to seedling growth.
The consumption rate of the working solution is 250–300 l/ha.
It is recommended to evenly spray the entire area with fine droplets, the soil should be in a finely lumpy state.
Mechanical cultivation of the soil should be avoided after applying the drug.
During the growing season of the crop: 1–2 l/ha in the phase of 1–2 pairs of true sunflower leaves.
The consumption rate of the working solution is 200–250 l/ha. It is not recommended to use with any tank partners (plant protection agents, surfactants, microfertilizers), except Mero® adhesive (0.5 l/ha). After using the drug, a temporary yellowing of the leaves of the culture is possible, which does not negatively affect its growth, development and yield.

* CARROT
4.0 l/ha, to the seedlings of culture. The consumption rate of the working solution is 300–400 l/ha. It is recommended to evenly sprinkle the entire area with small drops, the soil should be in a finely lumpy state. Mechanical cultivation of the soil should be avoided after applying the drug.

*ONION
0.5 l/ha. After the rise of culture. The consumption rate of the working solution is 200–300 l/ha.
The phase of cultural development — 12–14 VVSN. The number of treatments is 2 with an interval of 10–14 days.
