Description:

A preparation for deworming puppies and kittens with nematodes and cestodes (infestations with roundworms and tapeworms).

Composition:

Pranatan For kittens and puppies (praziquantel ― 5.0 mg / ml, pyrantela pamoate - 15.0 mg / ml, auxiliary components: polysorbate 80, sodium benzoate, xanthan gum, citric acid, propylene glycol, distilled water up to 1 ml).

Application:

Prevention and treatment of nematodes (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, uncinariasis, ankylostomosis, trichocephalosis), cestodes (echinococcosis, taeniidosis, diphyllobothriasis, dipylidiosis, mesocestoidosis), as well as mixed nematodes and cestodes infestations in kittens and puppies, starting from 2 weeks of age.

Pharmacological properties:

Pranatan suspension has a wide range of anthelmintic action on all phases of development of round and tapeworms, including Toxocara canis, Tohosaga mystax, Toxascaris leonina, Trichuris vulpis, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Taenia spp., Dipylidium caninum, Diphyllobothrium latum, Mesocestoides lineatus and Multiceps multiceps parasitizing kittens and puppies.

The mechanism of action of Praziquantel, which is part of the drug, consists in the disruption of intracellular calcium exchange in cestodes, suppression of fumarate reductase, disruption of the permeability of cell membranes and neuromuscular innervation, causes spastic muscle contraction of helminths and leads to their death. Pyrantella pamoate blocks neuromuscular transmission in nematodes by means of persistent depolarization of postsynaptic membranes (cholinergic antagonist), which leads to paralysis and death of helminths. Pyrantela pamoate is poorly absorbed, which ensures its prolonged effect on helminths in the intestines and low toxicity for animals.

Dosage and method of application:

The drug Pranatan suspension is given to animals once, individually during the morning feeding with a small amount of feed or forcibly on the root of the tongue with the help of a dosing syringe in the following doses:
for kittens and puppies 1 ml/1 kg.

Before use, the drug should be shaken thoroughly for 1-2 minutes! A previous fasting diet and the use of laxatives are not required.

Pranatan will be prescribed for therapeutic purposes according to indications.

With a strong degree of infestation, deworming is recommended to be repeated after 10 days.

In order to prevent helminthiasis, kittens and puppies are dewormed in therapeutic doses quarterly, as well as before each vaccination.

Contraindications:

The drug should not be used in kittens and puppies under 2 weeks of age and weighing less than 1 kg, as well as simultaneously with products containing piperazine.

Caution:

With increased individual sensitivity to the active substances of the drug, short-term salivation and vomiting are possible in some animals, which quickly disappear and do not require symptomatic treatment.

Release form:

Polymer bottles of 5 ml each for puppies and kittens are packed in cardboard boxes. In addition, the box includes a disposable syringewith a capacity of 3 ml.

Storage:
