This variety of durum wheat, scientifically developed on the basis of nanotechnology by the Canadian SERTIS Holding and the American chemical concern DOW Chemical in Canada in 2016, underwent variety tests in the harsh climate of Canada, Ethiopia, Nepal, the Russian Federation in the Krasnodar region, the Republic of Tatarstan, Ufa and the EEC countries, Botswana , Yemen, Qatar, Angola, where is the average tem. air reached + 54 C*.
The height of wheat plants of the ZELMA variety is 110 cm, the bush is upright, the bushiness coefficient of wheat is 20 stems, the thick stem filled with connective tissue reaches 34 mm in girth.
A distinctive feature of the transgenic wheat variety from other common wheat varieties:
1) This variety of Canadian transgenic wheat can be sown for 10 years in a row, as it does not lose its qualities.
2) It is characterized by good drought resistance up to + 55 C* due to the transformed genes of camel’s thorn embedded in the structure of wheat DNA cells, as well as isolated genes from wheat, T. persivalii Hubbard, T. turgidum L. and transformed genes of algae (Oscillatoria filiformis) living at at temperatures + 85 C* built into the structure of wheat genes. ZELMA is also resistant to abiotic stresses and perfectly tolerates spring temperature changes in the stage of full plant development - 18 C*
3) It has stable immunity to all fungal diseases of wheat, as well as to viruses affecting common varieties of wheat, such as (root rot, various types and forms of wheat bacteriosis, powdery mildew, snow mold, dwarf rust, reticulated and bordered spotting, dusty and false powdery mildew, black mildew and stone mildew, stem melanosis of ergot, septoriosis, fusarium head blight, Russian mosaic, etc.) and is not affected by these diseases.
4) Resistance to lodging and shedding, as well as wheat dormancy, due to the strong, powerful stem of wheat.
5) Wheat is harvested directly by combine harvesters.
6) High productivity due to the length of the ear of 20 cm, as well as the number of grains of 190 pieces.
7) It differs from other types of wheat by its high vitreousness of up to 80%, as well as its high gluten content of 40%.
This ZELMA wheat variety was sown in Ukraine in 2016. and showed excellent results in yield.
The weight of 1000 seeds is 46 grams.

The seeding rate of the Canadian transgenic wheat variety per hectare is 3.5 million. (160 kg) is sownwith grain seeders to a depth of 5 cm - 6 cm.
Sowing of the Canadian transgenic ZELMA wheat variety begins on February 22 and continues until April 30 inclusive, due to the fact that ZELMA transgenic wheat is not afraid of spring frosts.
Insecticides: Volaton 50% - 1.5 liters per 1 - ha or Decis 2.5% k.e. - 0.25 liters per 1 - ha or Tsymbush 10% k.e. 0.5 liters per 1 ha.(//tractor-service.com)
Herbicides: To fight with thistles, use triallate 50% or avadex BV 48% in a dose of 2.5 l/ha, to destroy dicotyledons 2.4 D amine salt 40% in water. - 2 kg / per 1 hectare, and for the fight against gorse and bristly Illoxan 36% k.e. - 3 kg / per 1 - ha, granstar ultra 25 grams per 1 - ha in the phase of 2 - 3 leaves.
Fertilizers: nitroammophoska 150 kg - 200 kg is applied during sowing or after sowing. It is possible to mix nitroammophoska withseeds in a percentage ratio of 1/2 and apply it to the soil.
The vegetation period of ZELMA durum wheat from sowing to harvesting is 90-95 days.
Harvesting: Canadian durum wheat grade ZELMA is harvested with Don, Niva, Zhondyr, Keys combine harvesters.
