Agronomic advice:
Flax is an excellent grain crop with a short vegetation cycle.
It provides a profitable break in crop rotation between
cereals and beet crops.
It is not a carrier of the beet nematode and is not susceptible to grain diseases or pests such as weevils.
* There should be at least 6 years between flax crops.
* Avoid too alkaline or too clay soils.
* Sow flax after straw crops;
* Avoid predecessors that leave uneven soil or a crop that returns long-decomposing organic matter (
maize).
Cultivation technique:
* Flax is a plant that requires water during flowering. Deep cultivation of the soil and good burning of the crop residues will contribute to the good development of the root system.
* The optimal sowing date is from March 15 to April 15.
* Sowing density: target 550,650 seedlings per m2, i.e. 700-800 seeds per m2, i.e. 45-55 kg of seeds per hectare.
* Sowing depth 1 - 2 cm on well-compacted soil.
* The distance between plants is from 8 to 17 cm.
* Rolling after sowing is recommended in dry periods, with the exception of threshed soils.
