Today, due to the sharp increase in the production of industrial mineral fertilizers for plant growing, such a valuable natural fertilizer as quail droppings has been undeservedly forgotten. However, experienced gardeners know its true value, so they often use it in their private plots.

Ever since ancient times, when man only began to engage in agriculture, one of the first things to be fertilized was, of course, bird droppings. Quail droppings are often used as fertilizer for plants and gardens.

Until now, on some islands of the Caribbean Sea, guano is mined in large quantities - the droppings of seabirds that have decomposed in a dry climate. This fertilizer is even an export item.

In the middle of the 60s and 70s of the 20th century, due to the production of a large amount of mineral, fertilized bird droppings somehow took a back seat. But today, the undeservedly forgotten fertilizer is becoming popular, especially in private plots. When quail are kept for a long time, a large amount of quail droppings accumulates, since the output of droppings in relation to feed is approximately 1:1 by volume, i.e. a bucket of fodder is a bucket of litter.

Of all types of organic, fertilized bird droppings are considered the most valuable. According to its chemical composition, it is 3-4 times richer thanmanure cattle. Nutrients in it are in a favorable combination for plants and soil microflora, quickly dissolve in water and are easily absorbed.

In terms of effect on the crop in the first hour of application, bird droppings are close to mineralfertilizers. But due to the high concentration of organic components and their gradual release, bird droppings have an effect on the crop in the next 2-3 years, that is, it has an aftereffect. - As a result of composting, straw and sawdust will turn intohumus, which will be a wonderful fertilizer;
- The process lasts about a month. This period is sufficient for the death of parasites, the decomposition of harmful substances and the rotting of weed seeds;
- After composting, quail droppings are ready to be applied to the soil, the best time for this is autumn. It is scattered over the site, after which it is immediately dug up;
- It is not recommended to use fertilizer in the spring, as it can negatively affect the sprouts and the initial period of plant vegetation;

How to prepare top dressing for plants

- To prepare top dressing, you will need a container that is half filled with manure, and the other half is filled with water;
- Next, mix thoroughly, cover with a lid and leave for a week;
- Before use, the resulting mixture is diluted with water: for 10 liters of water - 0.5 liters of the mixture.
- Such top dressing is used exclusively in the summer for watering plants.
