History

The first mention of this duck is found in the records of the Spanish priest Cies de Leon in 1553, who described the life of the Indians of South America. Later, it was brought from there to all 4 continents. It owes its name to fleshy growths on the head, which either give off a musk-like smell, or make it look like a turkey. This is how the "musky" and "indoutka" variants appeared. She is also known as "barbara's duck", as it is called in France.
