Starter relay RS-400 DC electromagnetic device; intended for turning on the starter when starting the internal combustion engine.
The RS-400 relay consists of a housing 3, to which an electromagnetic coil 5 closed by a cover 8 is attached on one side, and a cover 1 with fixed contacts 2 (having output terminal bolts 11), an armature 7 with a buffer spring 6, and movable contacts 9 with springs 4. When current flows through the coil 5, a magnetic field arises under the action of which the armature 7 is pulled into the coil cavity and, overcoming the resistance of the return spring 10, closes the fixed contacts 2 with movable contacts 9. In the closed position, the contacts are held until current flows through the coil winding. The contacts open under the action of the return spring 10. The starting relay is attached to the flywheel sleeve in the immediate vicinity of the electric starter.
