The equipment for dairy farms, which has recently been produced by our industry, is intended for the complex mechanization of farms, both with tethered stalls and untethered animal keeping. Based on the level of equipment of the farm with milking facilities and secondary equipment for livestock farms, projects for the construction of livestock premises are also being developed. Theoretical calculations and practical experience show that it is economically feasible to create farms with a herd of at least 200 cows. Existing mechanization is mainly used to equip such farms (for example, a milk pipeline for 200 heads), however, it can also be successfully used in cowsheds for 100 heads (other types of milk pipeline, milking platform "herringbone").

The water supply of the majority of farms is carried out by the equipment of wells with a depth of 50 to 120 m, with casing pipes with a diameter of 150-250 mm. Water from wells is supplied by submerged deep electric pumps of the UECV type. The type of pump and its performance are chosen depending on the depth, diameter of the well and the required amount of water for the farm. Water towers installed near wells are used as reservoirs for receiving and storing water. The all-metal tower of the Rozhkovsky system is the most convenient and easy to operate. Its capacity (15 cubic meters) provides uninterrupted water supply to the farm (up to 2,000 heads) with periodic pumping and filling of the tower with water from the well. Currently, towerless water pumps, small-sized and with full automation control, are increasingly being used.

The following equipment for dairy farms is used for watering cows in cow sheds when they are tied: one T1A-1 valved individual drinker for every two cows. The drinking bowl is small in size, easy to maintain. When animals are kept off-leash, drinkers AGK-4 with electric heating are widely used. They are installed on open walking platforms at the rate of one per 50-100 people. The АГК-4 drinking fountain provides water heating and temperature maintenance up to 14-18° in frost up to 20°.
