Seed oats are one of the most cold-resistant spring crops. Seed germination begins at a temperature of 1-2 °C, and seedlings are resistant to spring frosts up to -3-5 °C, sometimes even up to -7-10 °C.

Although oats are a cold-resistant plant, they are sensitive to frost. Therefore, we recommend sowing in early spring (in April), before planting late crops or after harvesting early vegetables, in order to have time to mow it before the first autumn frosts. Oats in the role of siderate have the advantage of releasing easily digestible potassium into the soil, which makes it an excellent precursor for potassium-demanding vegetables, such astomatoes, eggplants, peppers and others. Oats, as a siderate, are especially effective on acidic and peaty soils, as their roots contain substances that fight root rot. It also suppresses the growth of weeds well.
