BLOOM variety of soft winter wheat scientifically developed in Canada in 2020. Produced by the transformation of wheat DNA cells by the Canadian holding company SERTIS HOLDING GROUP.
This BLOOM wheat variety was tested for frost resistance in 2020. In the frosty climate of Canada and the harsh climate of Alaska in North America, where the temperature in January 2020 dropped to -42°С.
Varietal testing for drought resistance was held in the EEC countries, South Africa, the USA and Brazil, where the summer is hot and dry, with an air temperature of up to + 46°С. In these extreme conditions, BLOOM transgenic wheat withstood and showed a remarkable yield result.
The height of BLOOM winter wheat plants is 115 cm, the bush is upright, the coefficient of bushiness of transgenic wheat is 22 stems, each stem is powerful, filled with connective tissue.
Distinctive feature of BLOOM transgenic wheat variety from other common winter wheat varieties:
1. It is possible to sow for 10 years, as this variety does not lose its properties.
2. Excellent frost resistance to -45 °C in a dry winter, without snow cover in combination with strong winds, due to isolated genes from oceanic brown algae, Fucus vesiculosus, which can withstand a temperature of -50 °C. And the PQ3n2e gene transformed from a larch tree (Larix sibirica) that can withstand temperatures of 71°C.
3. Resistant to abiotic stresses due to transformed chromosomal aberrations of LEA genes. It perfectly tolerates spring temperature changes and frosts in the stage of full development of the plant.
4. It is characterized by good drought resistance up to + 60°С due to the introduction of a set of hsf genes transformed from Gladonia alpinum, which lives at tem. + 101°C.
5. Due to the transformation of the stpd1 gene isolated from the cells of soleros (salicomia europea), which lives in groundwater salt concentrations of up to 230 g/l. It is resistant to soil salinization.
6. Contains resistance gene: H - 6 to Hessian fly, H - 9 to winter wheat, Swedish fly. H – 10 k oat nematode, gall nematode, peanut nematode, wheat nematode. H -12 to the American meromyza, Rdn2 to the wheat mite (Aceria tosichella), Rdn1 to the barley weevil (Diuraphis noxia), SZX16TN1 to the bread sawflies Sephus pygmaeus, Tracheus tabidus.
7. Thanks to the transformed genes Dm3, Dm4, RPP7, it has good resistance to fungal diseases and viruses affecting common wheat varieties.
8. This wheat variety is resistant to lodging, due to the strong, powerful stalk of wheat, as well as shedding and resting of the ear.
9. Wheat is harvested directly by harvesters, as the grain on the ear ripens evenly and does not require desiccation.
10. High productivity due to the length of the ear, the coefficient of bushiness of wheat, as well as the large number of grains in the ear.
11. BLOOM wheat contains the transformed G2rt0 gene from Echinacea purple, which increases a person's immunity up to 8 points, namely T-lymphocytes B - lymphocytes, NK - cells, G - immunoglobulins, this helps a person fight against various viruses and bacteria.
12. When harvesting, it is characterized by a high gluten content of up to 38%.
