Asbestos-cement pipes have a complex of important properties with the widest purpose, and therefore belong to a promising type of pipes. These pipes are made of stone material created artificially by mixing asbestos (15-20% of the weight of cement), portland cement and water. Adhering perfectly to hardening cement, having high tensile strength, the present asbestos fiber makes the material durable throughout the entire volume. Due to this quality, asbestos cement has high strength indicators (strength limit in bending reaches 30 MPa, in compression - 90 MPa) with a relatively low density (1600-2000 kg/m3). As a rule, asbestos-cement products are produced by casting a liquid-viscous mass on a thick metal mesh, followed by dehydration and forming. Asbestos-cement pipes differ from metal pipes in durability. For example, they are perfectly preserved in the soil, they are not exposed to electrochemical corrosion. They have good frost resistance, passing through 50 cycles of freezing and thawing, while losing no more than 10% of strength, have a small hydraulic resistance, and are practically waterproof. Application and properties of asbestos pipes In the modern construction market, products made of asbestos cement are in high demand. They are simply irreplaceable in the construction of drinking water and technical systems, non-pressure and pressure sewage systems. No less advantageously, asbestos pipes are used in land reclamation, in the organization of drainage collectors, when laying cables, as casing pipes in wells, various wells, for the equipment of garbage pipes in multi-storey residential buildings. According to the recommendations of SNiP 41-01-2003, asbestos products are used in the construction of chimneys. Cement-asbestos pipes are difficult to replace with anything when laying storm drains, drainage channels. They are successfully used in such advanced areas as in rocketry and nuclear engineering. Due to low thermal conductivity and high resistance to corrosion, asbestos-cement pipes are successfully used in European countries in heat supply systems and devices of gas pipeline networks (Austria, Germany, Belgium). These systems have been in operation for more than 30 years. In new construction, this type of pipe is used when laying foundations and erecting fence posts. In order to create landscaping elements, asbestos pipes are used for pots, flower beds, columns, columns, and decorative elements of fences. Products, sawn in half, can be used for construction and drainage gutters.
