Seedlings of REAL persimmons - the persimmon has a powerful tap root that goes to a great depth, the seedling has practically no small overgrown roots -carrot carrot, unless it is black in color. This culture is used to produce fruits (the fruit is a large, sweet berry up to 6 cm in diameter) and as a rootstock for grafting varietal persimmons.
Virgin Persimmon comes from North America. According to our observations, the trees growing in our garden, planted in 2004, are medium-sized, on average about 5 meters at 17 years of age. In the conditions of Zaporozhye (during the period of growth in our garden) there were no lower temperatures (-27 degrees). The declared frost resistance (up to -35 degrees), the root system withstands soil freezing up to (-15 degrees) and therefore seedlings of this species are recommended to be used as a rootstock for the promotion of cultivated varieties in more northern regions. The second valuable quality as a rootstock is that it withstands and grows well even on heavy clay, overmoistened soils, and also has a longer period of natural winter dormancy, which does not provoke the premature start of sap development of the cultivated variety due to prolonged winter thaws.
The tree bears fruit for 4-6 hours. The culture is resistant to pests and diseases.
