Shrot Sunflower meal is a waste from the production of sunflower oil. It is crushed defatted sunflower seeds. It is obtained by chemically extracting oil residues from sunflower cake, i.e. using chemical solvents. Hexane is used as a solvent. Sunflower cake is mixed with hexane. Hexane mixes with residual oil in the pulp. A liquid mixture of sunflower oil with hexane is separated from the solid fraction. The solid fraction issunflower meal. It is characterized by a high content of crude protein and a low content of fat and moisture. Nutritionally,sunflower protein is close to proteins of animal origin (fish meal, meat and bone meal, blood meal).
