In the institute of FTIMS of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the technology of casting for gasification models (LGM), casing castings of windmills for wind energy, as well as other castings for mechanical engineering.
Styrofoam models, according to the LGM process, for large castings of small and medium series are made on CNC milling machines or according to templates, cutting out component models on special tables with heated nichrome wire. In fig. shows typical castings of mechanical gear and hydraulics for nacelle construction. The cost of castings according to the LGM process is 20% cheaper than according to the technology of the HTS process, especially for molding sand HTS with organic resins as a binder. The casting of large blanks (up to 6 tons) according to gasified models in sand brick molds from bulk sand-liquid glass cold-solid mixtures has been worked out. In general, the process of casting metal into molds with HTS according to models that are gasified is called "Full-mold casting".
Examples of casting blades for turbines and fans, cast blades for wind generators are shown. The latter have a relatively longer length and require the use of cast alloys of high fluidity, in particular eutectic alloys of the Al-Si system.

Quality castings play a major role in the production of wind modules. It is the cast structures that serve to transmit wind energy from the rotor blades to the generator. Castings of the wind power group, such as the bed, propeller housing, axle trunnion, propeller support, and the three rotary blade adapters on bearings, can total more than 6 tons and are usually cast from high-strength ductile iron capable of withstanding significant loads. The thickness of the walls of the castings is 16-30 mm.
Castings for wind
power plants, as well as for other renewable energy equipment, have prospects for production in domestic foundries. The active development of demand for such castings is caused by the construction of
wind power plants in the world and in Ukraine, which, with further growth, guarantees foundries an increase in orders for the production of such castings.
