They are widely used in laboratories of various profiles in the process of preparing solutions of chemical reagents. There are also models of glass cylinders without a scale, they do not belong to measuring vessels, and are used in the process of measuring the density of liquids with the help of glass hydrometers.
According to the requirements of GOST 1770-74, measuring laboratory cylinders are manufactured of two accuracy classes (1st and 2nd) in several versions:
Version 1 — on a glass base with a spout.
Version 2 — on a glass base with a polished glass plug.

Version 3 — on a plastic base with a spout.
Version 4 — on a plastic base with a polished glass plug.
Version 4a — on a plastic base with a plastic plug.
Cylinders type 1 and 3 are not equipped with a plug, they are used for work with non-volatile liquids. Cylinders equipped with a glass and plastic plug can also be used for measuring volatile liquids. Do not choose models with a plastic plug when working with organic solvents.
Plastic bases and cylinder plugs are made of polyethylene. The cylinders themselves are made of chemical-laboratory glass of the XS brand, resistant to the effects of aggressive chemicals. The glass from which the cylinders are made is not heat-resistant, so you should not heat the cylinders or pour hot reagents into them.
